OEL - Reset Oil Service
Press and hold the tripmeter button on the speedometer
Switch the ignition to ON
‘OEL’ or ‘OIL’ will appear in the odometer display
Release the button
Press the button once more and release
The letters 'INSP' will appear in the display.
Press and hold the button once again until '....' appears in the display
Release button
INSP - Reset Inspection Service
Press and hold the tripmeter button on the speedometer
Switch the ignition to ON
‘INSP' will appear in the odometer display
Release the button
Press the button once more and release
The letters 'OEL' or 'OIL' will appear in the display.
Press and hold the button once again until '....' appears in the display
Release button
Beetle (1999-00)
Press and hold the tripmeter button
Switch the ignition to ON
Release the button
The word 'SERVICE' will appear in the trip recorder display
Press and hold the button till 'SERVICE' dissapears.
Switch the ignition off
Beetle (2000-)*
Press and hold the tripmeter button
Switch the ignition to ON
Release the button
The word 'SERVICE' will appear in the trip recorder display
Press and hold the button till 'SERVICE' dissapears.
Switch the ignition off
*On 2000 - models this method will only work on fixed interval servicing. Vehicles on longlife service intervals require specific equipment.
